Hi,
I’m Jennifer – I have a background in marketing working in the tech industry for over 20 years. I have raised two kids as a single Mom 80% of the time as three Husbands came and went throughout the years. My kids are grown now, I’ve Divorced the last Husband, and enjoy being single with the occasional date here and there. I am no stranger to blogging managing many blogs, but the Misadventures of Jenn blog has become my most popular. I started writing about my adventures traveling around the U.S. and added more blog posts as I traveled outside the U.S. working with charities and volunteering.
After nearly two years of living primarily in Nepal and owning a small shop in Pokhara I have moved back to the U.S. in a small town between Seattle and Tacom on the Olympic Peninsula. My job has me marketing for a vacation rental property management company that is based in Puerto Penasco Mexico with offices in Scottsdale, AZ and properties located throughout Mexico and the U.S.
It Started With An Addiction to Travel
I started just writing here and there as I experienced funny, heartwarming, and sometimes scary adventures during my travels. People started reading, and I kept writing when I could. Since I spent a lot of time in Pokhara Nepal I ended up adding many pages with information of all that you can do there. In addition, I love to snap photos. I worked, briefly, as a photographer for the Washington Park Zoo in Oregon in the late 90s, and have taken that to an advanced amateur level photography. My travels have allowed me to take some amazing photos, along with the exciting stories.
This blog/site is a place for me to share what I can, when I can. Some posts get personal as life isn’t perfect and we all have our moments. I was diagnosed with Scleroderma in 2014, with the Raynauds part in the early 90s. At times I will speak up and say something to share my story for others who suffer from this disease to see they aren’t alone, that there is hope that this doesn’t have to mean your life is over, and to generate awareness to those who know nothing of the disease.
My Successful Career in Digital Media Marketing
That’s right!
For nearly 20 years I worked in the tech industry as a digital marketing professional. Also known as the SEOGoddess I not only optimized websites for many companies, but I also spearheaded my own conferences in the industry. Considered one of the thought leaders of the SEO industry in 2014 I made the transition from an in-house employee for a very large corporation to a consultant when I was laid off.
In 2015 I joined a group of women volunteering in India and Nepal. Falling in love in Nepal (and with Nepal) I extended my stay and book return flights to live there permanently for a couple years. I opened a shop in Pokhara, Nepal and traveled around Asia as I found myself again.
In 2017, I accepted a role at Nordstrom managing a team of SEOs – these 5 men, and the environment, proved to be very challenging I was diagnosed with systemic scleroderma, one of my close friends passed away, and the company culture supported bullying. I now work for GitHub (Microsoft), which is a remote role supporting my love for travel and allowing me to continue with the passion I have for SEO and online marketing.
